Smart Tactics: Last week an agent came to us for a free training on how to book more appointments. When I asked him several questions about his business, his leads, and his results, he told me a few concerning things.

He said that he is currently spending $3,500 per month on buying leads. He’s using some of the best platforms in our industry to generate them, and the best CRM set up to convert them. He’s been spending $3,500 per month for the last 6 months and has gotten almost ZERO results…that’s frustrating!

When I asked why he wasn’t booking appointments from the leads, he said, “the leads aren’t motivated, and they won’t talk to me.”

Then I asked him to roleplay with me. I had him just demonstrate for me what his current lead conversion scripting was. I was shocked…

I was shocked because his scripting was SO BAD…that it was obvious (to me at least) why he wasn’t getting any results with his leads. He literally had NO effective scripting to engage them or to even continue the conversation beyond a simple “not yet”, “not ready” or “just looking”. He had so little training that he could barely engage as a salesperson!

It was painful to watch.

So, I did the best I could in the short meeting we were in. I taught him a few of our advanced scripting techniques to help him get better results right away. I also offered for him to join our training, so that instead of wasting $3,500 per month, he could start earning 3x, 5x, or even up to a 10x return on his lead spend.

His answer…”I need to think about it.” 😳

He followed up with, “I’m not sure my scripting is the issue…I just think the leads are bad. Maybe I need different leads”. 🙄

What he didn’t realize is that hundreds of our clients are successfully converting the SAME LEADS he has, and they are doing it to a high level, month in and month out. They are making that 3x to 10x return on their investments right now. It’s because they have the other half of the equation. They have the scripting, the systems, and the skillset to turn his same “dead” leads into paychecks.

He was too stubborn to accept it was him and not the leads.

I led him to water…but couldn’t get him to drink.
