Smart Tactics: In our Inner Circle Group, we review our goals at the end of every month. Our members find it very helpful (and sometimes painful) to keep that monthly focus on activities and results. I’m just like everyone else. If I don’t focus on hitting my goals regularly, they slide, they get loose, and then I end up WAAAAY off target.

Today is July 1st…that means half of the year is officially behind us. Now is when I start storing up nuts for the winter. I really focus on stacking up business and tightening my systems and sales process, so that I can make sure I am prepared for when the business slows down after Thanksgiving (like it does for most markets in the U.S. and Canada).

Here are three things to do right now to get yourself back on track for your goals:

  1. Review your schedule…are you making enough time for your most important priority? By the way, it’s lead gen.

  2. Review your systems…are your lead generation and lead cultivation systems doing their jobs? They should be feeding you people to talk to and appointments to go on every week.

  3. Polish up your lead conversion skills. We sales people live or die by our sales skills. If you can only win the “lay down” business…you won’t survive long in this current market downturn. It’s never too late to get recommitted to your goals. We all go through seasons where we are either driving forward or coasting. If you’ve been coasting…now is the time to wake up, shake off the rust, and get your momentum back. If you’ve been driving hard, maybe it’s time to improve your systems, so they can do more of the work for you.

In the past few emails I pointed out that I’ve been working hard to improve our 12 week bootcamp…and I’m getting excellent feedback from the beta group of students. July is going to be my time to tighten up our own sales process and improve our conversion metrics. The more I look at it as a game…the more consistent I can be at making incremental improvements over time. You can do the same thing…and start at any time.
